Sunday, 3 May 2026 10:02 GMT

The Portuguese star was riding up in the provisional podium places when three riders made contact, and the #88 was left worse for wear

The second race of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship weekend, unfortunately, saw Miguel Oliveira (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) take a tumble on Turn 6 of the opening lap. As he came through Turn 5 and was changing direction to Turn 6, Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team) and Andrea Locatelli (Pata Maxus Yamaha) made contact, which sent Locatelli into the right side of Oliveira’s bike. Oliveira fell to his left, he and his bike tumbling off track and causing the red flag to be waved. Oliveria has been transported to a local hospital for further diagnosis after being assessed a concussion and a left shoulder injury at the medical centre. For the incident, the #55 was handed an Irresponsible Riding penalty by FIM WorldSBK Stewards.
